- Position changes. The cheat-code picks of recent seasons have mostly been reclassifications — goalscorers priced as midfielders or set-piece forwards moved back a line.
- The promoted clubs. Coventry City, Hull City and Ipswich Town come up — promoted-team defenders and set-piece takers are traditionally where cheap enablers hide.
- Risers and fallers vs last season. A player cut half a million after a poor season is often better value than his headline price suggests — the underlying numbers do not reset with the price.
