Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, despite being young at the age of 22, has certainly begun to make his presence felt with Real Betis in La Liga. The Moroccan-born left-winger exhibits considerable skill particularly in two extremes of the game: his offensive and disruptive play. On one hand, Ezzalzouli's strength in one-on-one showdowns is indisputable, with successful dribbles per game standing at the excellent 81.25 percentile. Furthermore, he holds his own in progressive carrying where he's in the top 4% amongst his peers - grabbing attention for his ability to power through the pitch and initiate aggressive offensive plays.
However, Ezzalzouli tops the charts in terms of shots per 90 and the frequency of being dispossessed, both of which, at 100%, are exceptionally high. The former attests his high-press, relentless attacking approach, but the latter significantly highlights a key weakness: ball retention. His poor percentile score of 20% is indicative of a propensity to over-commit and thereby lose possession.
Similarly, his assist and progressive passing metrics, under 20%, direly need improvement. Despite his impressive goal threat percentile of 56%, the overall goal efficiency hovers only around the 22 percentile which directly impacts his goal contribution. A refinement of his decision-making, perhaps tampered by his youthful exuberance, could elevate his game remarkably. Underneath a raw exterior, Ezzalzouli possesses the potential to anchor a formidable attack, conditioned on dialing down his aggressive, sometimes reckless, playstyle.
