Kanya Fujimoto Scout Report
Based on the scout report, Kanya Fujimoto, the 24-year old Attacking Midfielder from Gil Vicente, shows promise in certain aspects, but has areas where he could improve. While he operates mainly in the midfield third, he has a commanding presence in the attacking side of the game with 40% of his play in the attacking third.
This high attacking involvement corresponds to his impressive ability to create chances, manage progressive carries, and provide a goal threat, as these are all stats where Fujimoto ranks in around the top third amongst his peers in the Primeira Liga. Particularly standout is his assists per 90 minutes figure, which sees him in the top 10% of attacking midfielders in his league, indicating that his vision and understanding of the game is a significant strength.
However, this didn’t translate to similarly high goal efficiency, where he ranks relatively low, not even in the top 20%. It is clear that while Fujimoto shows promise in initiating the deadly blows, his execution could do with some polish. Another area that raises some concern is his relatively low ball retention skills, which makes you wonder if he'd struggle against high pressing sides.
Defensively, Fujimoto's performance is something of a mixed bag. His relatively high Duel Win secures him some points, yet the low number of recoveries and interceptions and his below-average ball-recovery skills underscore the limitations of his defensive contribution. Interestingly, while he spends minimal time in the defensive penalty area, he commands a reasonably high Aerial Duels Win Ratio, which may be an asset in defending set-pieces.
With direct attacking play and intrinsic creativity, Fujimoto is an intriguing prospect, particularly as a provider. But to fulfill his potential, the Japanese player must enhance his goal efficiency and ball retention skills.
