Thomas Van den Keybus Scout Report
Thomas Van den Keybus, the 23-year-old Belgian wonder, is fast making his mark on the Pro League A with Westerlo. Predominantly a left-winger but flexible enough to double as a right and left midfielder, Van den Keybus has shown commendable versatility on the field. With a ball recovery percentile of 71.43%, he notably shines in retrieving possession, illustrating his incredible industriousness and defensive prowess. However, his ball retention at 11.43% rings alarm bells, suggesting a problem area where tight ball control and decision-making can be improved upon.
His strength in recovery is unfortunately not echoed in the attacking side of the game with his chance creation, goal threat, and goal efficiency sitting at a worrying 25.71%, 20.0%, and 17.14% respectively. His offensive contribution needs to be elevated, be it via sharp improvements in his progressive carrying at 22.85% or his assists-per-90 at 35.29%. In addition, an xG per 90 of 20.59% perhaps signals a need for boosted striking hunger.
On a brighter note, with his progressive passing percentile at 57.14%, Van den Keybus exhibits decent ability to move the ball forward positively. However, his pass accuracy per 90 of 32.35% raises concerns over the precision in his distribution. A successful cross percentile of 44.12% suggests utility in wide areas, but a successful dribble percentile of 14.71% suggests dribbling may not be his most potent skill.
To sum up, Van den Keybus is a promising talent, particularly impressive in his defensive contributions. Yet, there are clear areas where his game needs polishing, such as ball retention and contributing more significantly to attacks.
